    What’s Happening at D20 Games in Alameda

    5/15/13

    • Saturday 5/18–Date Night Magic
    • NEXT Sat, 25th and Sunday the 26th Dragon’s Maze Game Day…Standard Tournament for Full Art Cards
    • Sat, 25th PM–First Dragon’s Maze Two headed Giant!—Mix of all 3 sets…2DM, 1 Rav, 1 Gate pack per head (17.50 per head–get packs at 4, play at 5:30)
    • Starting to take reservations for the first (and only) Revised Box Draft –Yep…we are doing the most over the top draft ever…a factory sealed box of Revised.  Cost is $150 per person to open packs that haven’t seen fresh air in 19 years. ;-)  (NOTE–New date coming for this…June 29th!!!)

    D20 Games Events this week… (5/01/2013)

    Tuesday:

    • Vanguard, Pokemon, Kaijudo and Magic open play.

    Wednesday:

    • New Dragon’s Maze League (short league before summer League) 6 packs to start or one of the prerlease 6 pack sets.

    Thursday:  

    • 5:30…Magic Time Walk Duels!!  $5 entry ($4 into a pack for the prize pool)  We got this wonderful collection of Intro Decks from 1996-2008 in perfect condition.  Pick your weapon from the History of Magic and see how it does…pick a favorite from the past or something you’ve never tried before.  We’re going to do this from now on, so come and have some historical fun.
    • Board Game Test Night. Check out new board games from 5-7 (or later)–Play a game and write a review…get a punchcard punch good for special deals!!!

    Friday:  

    •  Magic League Play-4-5:30 for kids, anytime for adults
    • Friday Night Magic: Dragon’s Maze Draft 6:45. $15 (Special deal..sleeves $2 for drafters) Drafting Dragon’s Maze-Gatecrash-Ravnica

    Saturday 

    • 11-1:00 Pokemon League…$5 and great fun for all ages. Free play with other folks who love Pokemon with rewards for how many times you play. ADDING Competitive tournament each week.  $5 entry (4 into prize pool for packs). Single Elimination.
    • Date Night Magic 5 for pizza, 5:30 for draft.  $15 for the event plus $5 for pizza and drink for kids 9-12–kids will have the option of playing in the launch event instead if they would like.

    D20 Games Weekly Magic Update

    Lots of good stuff coming up!!!

    • Date Night Magic is on for 4-6 for kids 9-12
    • Preregistration is open for the Dragon’s Maze Prerelease on Sat. April 27th at 10 and 4,  and Sunday at 10 am.
    • Taking pre-orders for Dragon’s Maze Boxes…$105 per box for the next week (or $110 with Double buy a box promos…one from this set, one random from the last 3)
    • Next Saturday (4-13) for special Magic Sealed event…Guild Wars!  Team Sealed Battle between Gruul, Simic, and Boros!
    • A special Two-headed Giant at 4–Intro Pack Battles...each player gets to pick a random intro pack from Gatecrash or Ravnica and used the decks plus the two packs for their contribution to the team.

    • Gatecrash League Week!! !! $25 to start (includes 6 packs) and $5 a week…goes until the end of the set.. Kids from 3:30-5:30, Adults from 5-7–  League is played on a drop in, so come in Weds, Friday or Saturday Nights  IT IS FINE to come in and start now..this goes for the length of the set so there is lots of time to play.  Also, Pre-release sets are fine to start with, and to answer the other question, you can get a different set if your first pulls didn’t rock…just needs to be a full set of six.
    • Bring your Standard decks to test out while you’re waiting.

    Pokemon League 11am Saturdays

    Pokemon League: Saturday at 11am-1pm
    Every Week–Pokemon league.  ;-) This has been going SUPER well.  We have a great group of players showing up and lots of fun being had by players from young to full on adult.

    Players of all experience levels (and ages) are invited to come down and find other like-minded players ready for a game, trading or a bit of both.  Players get a special check card and for every set of games they play and get signed off they earn their way to fun prizes like special cards and patches.  Winning and losing dosen’t matter, and in fact, when the more experienced players help the newer players learn how to play, they get extra checks for it, so they are egar to help out.  Entry fee is $5 and includes a booster pack.

    D20 Yugioh Update: Duelist League, Saturday –No More Adult Yugioh @ D20 Games

      We sincerely apologize to the majorly of Yugioh players who are lovely and respectful people that the actions of some have forced us to stop yugioh in the store.  We will continue to allow kid play only on Saturday from 1-4 for now and evaluatethis as time goes on…..for the whole story  click here.

    Board Games at D20 Alameda

    Welcome to the Board Game Report at D20 Alameda.  We’ve been working hard to cherry pick the best and most interesting board games we can find, games that are goods for lots of different mixes of players, from families trying to balance ages and temperaments, to serious table top gamers looking for some major engaging fun.  :

    Thursday…Board Game Night Starts!!!

    So we’re working on finding the most fun board and card games we can sniff out. :-) On Thursday Nights we are cracking them open and bringing them out for people to give them a test play. Check out Will Weaton’s Tabletop web series to see some of these games in action.

    • New (for Us) Forbidden Island. Team game to get all the idols and safely off before the island sinks from under you.
    • Munchkin Apocalypse!! Just released post apocalyptic version of the favorite help/mess with your friends game with jsut the right amount of wrong for the 9-13 set (and those who still feel like that when they looking the mirror)
    • Marvel Legendary: A great superhero deck building game that not only plays well from 2-5 players, but can be played with 1 (very rare)
    • Star Fluxx-The rules are …well, don’t worry…they’re going to change anyway. ;-)
    • Set Jr.-A simplified version of the wonderful pattern matching game.
    • Timeline-Inventions, Discoveries and Events…what came before what?  Can you get them in the right order?  (Great for 8 and up)
    • Bang!-Spaghetti Western game of who (will or wants to) shoot the Sheriff.  Any game where a card called Bang! can be countered by a card called Missed! has got to be (and is) a ton of fun.
    • Ascension–We have all the versions of this staple of deck building games (what are deck building games?  Head over to the board game section to find out.)
    • Ticket to Ride-Wonderful game for 7 and up..get tickets and claim the tracks to get there…good family fun.
    • Castle Panic!-back in Stock after selling out…Let the conflict be with the game, not the kids in this tower defense style board game where the players team up to beat the game. (6 and up)
    • And of course…our favorite: Cover Your Assets.
