The newest set of Pokemon, BreakPoint, releases in February. The second set in the Break set, it features both Mega Ex’s and the New Break cards that can be played on top of a Pokemon of the same name to add its abilities.
Release Date is Feb 3rd,
Prerelease, Jan 30th at 10am and 2 pm. $30 per player. Each player gets 6 packs, makes their best deck and plays for 3 rounds. After having a bit of fun, they turn in their borrowed energy and get two more booster packs and a special promo card. The 10am event is run by D20 so you CAN register in advance. The 1 pm event is run by the Pokemon League folks and is first come, first served and needs to be paid in cash.
Magic Date Night: Saturday Night….NEW START TIME OF 4;00…not 5:30….and pizza is included in new price ($25) (less external food options. Pick up is by 8:30 at the latest (I’m taking my guys to see the Avengers.)
Pokemon Roaring Skies Prerelease event is this Saturday morning May 2nd. Here’s the deal. We provide the space, but it is run by the Pokemon league folks, and as much as they would like to, they can not do preregistration for the event. They’ve been allocated stuff for about 26 players. so it will be first come, first served, with registration starting at 10:30 am. It is $30 (cash directly paid to the organizers). Each player gets 6 packs of the new stuff to make their best decks with, plays a few rounds, and gets two more bonus packs when they return their land at the end. We WILL be doing our version of this event for the release the next week, so if you can’t make it, don’t want to risk not getting in, or don’t make it before they sell out, you CAN sign up in advance for the RELEASE event the week of the 9th (I started doing this for every new set after the first time when I had to watch a small parade of teary eyed kids…the Dad in me couldn’t take it).
There WILL be standard Pokemon League side by side with this event since we have the added space…
Parent to parent happy kid tips:
It is not competitive and is good for all levels of players
It will be a full house, so kids should either have parents around or be comfortable with that type of scene (as should you).
Make sure they have food or $$ for snacks (please make the food both clean finger and rug friendly…I put in our human sized chessboard rug myself…)
To avoid the sad kid syndrome…let them know that if they don’t make it into this one, that we will have a special one the next week for the release where they will get the same number of packs, but where you can sign up in advance so you are guaranteed a spot. Let them know that not everyone will get in and that you will give it a try. (See me if this happens….I can provide great words of comfort that come from someone who is not their parent, and is therefore much more heard. I know…my kids treat me like the wah-wah voice of the Peanuts cartoons as well.)
Make sure they have a box or ideally small bag to keep their stuff in…with name on it. Every time we have kids leave a pile of good cards on a table and get very upset when someone else picks them up.
This is for the Release event on the 9th….NOT FOR THE PRERLEASE on the 2nd.
We will be doing our Prereleases on the weekend of April 26th and 27th…

Constellation —Another Enchantment effect…whenever an enchantment enters the battlefield, it makes this ability fire.
Strive–Sort of like kicker, this lets you pay an extra amount to have the spell get extra targets. (think the old Fireball spells)
The second chapter in the Greek inspired Theros block is on it’s way and we’re starting to get psyched. Prerelease is signing up now (sign up soon to get the color of your choice for the prereleae pack.) Pre-order box prices are starting to go up, but we will do $105 this week, going up to $120 when the set releases, so if you want to order those, let us know. Also only the first 30 orders for boxes get the buy a box promos, and we don’t know what those are yet and that often will raise the box prices if it ends up being awesome.
The first Born of the Gods spoilers from the set, KioraThe spoilers will start for real around Jan 13, but Wizards gave us a holiday peek with the first planeswalker of the set. This will be a 165 card set, designed to be drafted with Theros. They are also continuing the Hero’s path, that gave us the Hydra deck last time around, so look for more opportunities to get the special promo hero cards to help in the next challenge.
Our Prerelease will be the first weekend of the month, with events on:
As usual, we will be doing Kids and Casual (3 round, win a round, win a pack) for all the events, side by side with competitive (4-5 rounds, win at least two round to get a pack, but much bigger numbers of packs for the top winners) for everything except the two-headed Giant (just casual for that one.)
Pick a Guild…any guild! 😉 Dragon’s Maze is the last set in the Ravnica Block, bringing support for all 10 of the guilds of Ravnica , so players who register early will get to their favorite from all 10 guilds.
At D20 Games, we work hard to create a welcoming place for players of all levels to play, well, for the fun of it. 😉
A couple of new things for the Dragon’s Maze prerelease.
Pick from all ten guilds(20 total of each…reserve early to get your choice)…each pack will contain 4 packs of Dragon’s Maze cards, one special pack of just cards for the chosen guild, and one pack of a secret ally guild that shares a color with the guild selected.
The Implicit Maze…members of each guild can participate in the Implicit Maze Race. If team members win enough to get to complete the maze, they will get a chance to win special code cards good for virtual badges for their Planeswalker.com accounts
The special foil promo card will be for everyone and not for use in the decks. There will also be a bonus promo foil land for those who do the maze.

Experienced Vs. Casual players: This is a great event for both experienced and casual players and we work hard to take care of both groups. For both…we always play for the fun of the game. 😉
Competitive: 4-6 rounds depending on number of players, with the top players getting most of the 2 pack per attendee prizes. (must win at least two rounds to get prize. Prize payout based on number of players)
Kids & Casual: is more of our standard draft style, with three rounds, with a prize pack given for each round won. Prizes are smaller but more spread out. (NOTE—Because of the Implicit maze event, we will give the Kids and casual players an option to play an extra round to try and win the virtual promo badges, but it is optional and there won’t be other prizes for the 4th round besides those promo badge code cards. )
