Black Friday/Small Biz Satureday. Thanksgiving Sales: Relax…go play…we’ll be here- ;-) (Again)

Enough…Thanksgiving is for being with people, not shopping….

We are doing sales for the whole week through Dec 1st, so take your time.. Come in for Small Business Saturday, or another day this week. We are having extra hours this week and next, open at 10 am every weekday through the 1st. (Except Thanksgiving …closed for that cause I gotta make my Peking duck turkey, people).

However, We do need as much business as you can through our way because we have huge news….over the next 3 months we are going to be moving down the street to a new location that is 3x our current size.  That means that we are gonna be able to offer multiple D&D rooms, much more play space, and not just one or two kid things after school, but full afterschool and summer program D&D (and, fingers crossed, Chess, Lego Robotics, and Real robotics).  So I’m departing from my usual focus on minimizing sales in exchange for helping others, to use this time to put together some great deals to put $ into the make the new D20 special build out fund. (We will be doing a kickstarter coming up very soon…keep eyes out for that.)  That means we have both good deals as well as the return of the famed Loot bags in updated forms.  So far we have Magic Event at Home bags from Silver ($49.99), Gold ($99.99) Platinum ($199.99), and the one off Ultimate ($599.99). (Each one has amusingly more value then those prices).  We also have a D&D bundle, as well as a full set of Dice Goblin Loot bags for those of us who realize that “enough dice” is clearly an statement made by the uninitiated.

We are Closed for Thanksgiving…Open at 10am Friday the 24th.  Next week we will be open extra hours, Monday-Friday at 10am.

Black Friday =Family Friday—if you wanna come into pick something up and go home and play, great.  But don’t stress about it.

Go play!!!  Sure, I’m the board game guy, so that’s my auto suggestion, but go for a walk, hike, de-dust the football (and stretch first..those of us who’s memories of being 12 are a few times older then being 12.)  But go goof with each other, and have some (gasp) fun!  Relax, go back to the leftovers a bunch of times when no one is looking. Or just chill out.

I’m not saying we don’t want and need yer business.  We absolutely do.  Competing with the near cost prices of Amazon means that every sale from customers who appreciate that we are creating a home for community more then anything else is absolutely key for us.  (So save some of your gift money to spend with us).  But it does mean that I’m not going to make my sales last 45 minutes so you have no choice but to leave the house in order to get them.  We’ll be doing sales all week , but we’ll base them on how many we need to sell at that price so, you can come in this weekend, or next week, etc.

Our big thing is to make sure that we listen and can point you to things that will actually be fun to play and make people happy.  (And no fake reviews either.  Ok…that was a little shot at Amazon…couldn’t help myself.)

Coming…list to a page of our recommended gifts for this year, as well as any other special stuff.  But for right now, just think about special stuffing.  (Ok…if you come into the store today, you can get some great games to play over the holiday.)

Holiday Events/Sales

This is gonna be our bulletin board for updating sales and events for the holidays.  But before I do that and smile and remind you that us local businesses need you guys big time to stay alive, I’m gonna get on my usual soapbox about Black Friday Sales.

Don’t let big retail (or even me) force you to give up time with yer loved ones, or a rare and well deserved sleep in, just to get out in a crowd, or stuck to a screen to buy stuff!  We will have sales, but they will last into the week after, so you can come in at your leisure.  We will be open extra hours and running extra events during thanksgiving, so feel free to come in.  We’re just not gonna stand outside your door, screaming for attention.

Speaking of the events and stuff…here is the first installment on what is going on:

A couple of special things this week
  1.  Magic Brother’s War Release weekend events all weekend, including Two Headed Giants Sat and Sun-using prerelease kits for extra fun
  2. D&D…special Events For experienced (16+) D&D players on Mon, Tues and Friday.  Get a chance to play at the high levels (finally) for Turkmageddon!  Limited number of players and long (5-6 hour) sessions.
  3. Event sign ups here
Lot’s of sales/deals and new stuff coming in this week—rather than just give you a few now here are a couple of places to look to see where the new stuff is updated

D20 Games is Proud to announce our first Event Campaign: Turkemageddon! Join us for three separate chapters in this holiday themed mini-campaign! Each chapter will be a concise adventure for high level characters with a contiguous story that will weave through and connect each chapter. While it is a campaign Turkemageddon is structured with a drop-in approach allowing players to decide which adventures they would like to take part in. For those who wish to play a character through all three events there will be an in-game gap of five years between each installment to allow for leveling and verisimilitude.

Monday November 21st: Vengeance Most Fowl
We will begin our story on Monday November 21st with Vengeance Most Fowl, an adventure designed for a
party of level 10 characters who find themselves caught between the machinations of a prideful tyrant and the
vengeance of an Eldritch god.

  1. Level 10 characters built with the standard array ability scores (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8).
  2. Characters may be built with any official WotC 5th edition books. No homebrew or playtest material.
  3. A list of level appropriate magic Items will be made available before we begin play.

Tuesday November 22nd: Attack on Gourmand
On November 22nd the next adventure, Attack on Gourmand, is designed for a party of level 15 characters
captured by a colossal chef who intends to use them in his piece de resistance.

  • Characters should be leveled up to or built at 15th level with the standard array ability scores (15,14, 13, 12, 10, 8).
  • Characters may be built with any official WotC 5th edition books. No homebrew or playtest material.
  • A list of level appropriate magic Items will be made available before we begin play. Magic items
  • acquired in the previous session will not count against new magic items for this session.

Friday November 25th: Turkemageddon
In the third and final installment of the campaign on November 25th, the party, now composed of 20th level
characters, must face their most treacherous foe yet in the titular Turkemageddon.

  •  Characters should be leveled up to or built at 20th level with the standard array ability scores (15,
  • 14, 13, 12, 10, 8).
  •  Characters may be built with any official WotC 5th edition books. No homebrew or playtest material.
  •  A list of level appropriate magic Items will be made available before we begin play. Magic items
  • acquired in the previous sessions will not count against new magic items for this session.

Thanksgiving Sales: Relax…go play…we’ll be here- ;-)

Enough…Thanksgiving is for being with people, not shopping….

(This is a mostly a repost…but hey…we’ve been doing the same thing every year)

New this year….We not be offering any savings for our sales this year…we’re doing Givings instead.  Instead of trying to out cheap Amazon, we’re opting for going for being good people.  There has been way too much of the opposite in the world these days.  And the best way I know to deal with selfishness and bullying is with fierce kindness.    So from now till the end of the holiday season, I’m gonna ask that you save a little chunk of your gift $$ to spend with us, and in exchange,  when you buy gifts from us, together we will give more gifts for those who are a little short of random kindness.  Spend $50 or more, put a $10 gift into the big box, $100 and put up to a $20 gift, etc.   We have a bunch of great games and goodies that we’ve hand picked for the holidays, including good games for getting everyone off of screens for both thanksgiving and the rest of the holidays.

We are Closed for Thanksgiving…Open at 1pm  on Friday the 29th. (maybe earlier depending on when I can get back…but that will be bonus.)

Black Friday =Family Friday
Every year. I do my traditional Thanksgiving thing, and stand up against the marketing Tsunami  and become a foolish business guy.

I’m not going to be part of the industry that has done such an amazing job of implanting in our minds that it is SHOPPING time, that we have forgotten that this is a day where our family/friends have often traveled a big distance, are together and don’t have to go to work.   Don’t go shopping on Friday (or Thursday night, etc).  Not in the stores, not on line, none of it.
